Add PhotosPhysical description: This lot once contained a combined Anglican Church and the Turee Vale School
Now only the small cemetery and a paddock fence remains of the small village of Turee Vale. The fence is wire mesh, star pickets and barb wire. Within there is an inner fence around two headstones. Beside these are a number of caste iron stele which are leaning against a large tree. The fenced headstones read
‘In Loving memory of Henry Dean, 29th July 1873 to 13th December 1875, John Dean 26th January 1853 to 26th September 1885 and Joseph Edward Dean 19th March 1859 to
26TH September 1885.
Beside this, the other headstone reads in ‘Loving memory of William Dean, 4th August 18 25 to 23rd March 1894, and granddaughter Irene.'
These headstones are of recent construction and presumably commemorate people who were buried within this cemetery.
One of the metal Stele, which was caste especially, reads ‘sacred, in affectionate remembrance of William Dean who departed this life on the 23rd March 1894 in the 69th year of his age. The will be done.' It is decorated with two doves at the top.
There are two other metal Etnas, and one has its casting number, but it's difficult to decipher. There are two other portions of sandstone grave stones. The grass is long however and others could be hidden from view. Other remains includes part of a wrought iron grave fence, and within it a broken sandstone headstone to Thomas Exley, 56 years who died in 1894.
From a descendant the following additional names can be added List of Wheeler Children Buried at Turee Creek.
Unnamed Female Wheeler b.1856 - d. 1856
Edward Fredrick Wheeler b. 1861 - d. 1862 27th Sept.
Henry Christopher Wheeler b. 1864 - d. 1866 16 May
Robert H Wheeler b. 1864 - d. Abt 1864
