This is the small cemetery of the Martin-Luther-Congregation, located at the end of a small road, just at the city line. It has a size of about 4.2 acres. The small chapel at the cemetery gate seats 200 mourners. The cemetery has an anonymous section, with no stones or names. A monument remembers the fallen soldiers of this city (WW I and WW II).
Please note that the graves in Germany are not perpetual. After a certain period of repose (this cemetery: 20 years for urns and 30 years for caskets) the graves are being leveled and re-used. There is no toxic embalming being done in Germany, so the coffin and the corpse can decompose naturally. If the family of the deceased decides to purchase another period the duration can be extended by another 20/30 years. Otherwise the grave will be leveled and reused, the marker than used as gravel in road construction. War Graves are considered memorials and are kept up by the owner of the cemetery. Those are kept forever. Also the town or owner of the cemetery might find a grave of historical significance and will protect and keep it.
There are four cemeteries in Bremen-Blumenthal:
Reformierter Friedhof (Reformed Evangelical Cemetery), AKA Friedhof Blumenthal
Katholischer Friedhof (Catholic Cemetery)
Lutherischer Friedhof (Lutheran Cemetery)
Waldfriedhof (Forest Cemetery)
