Gilfillan Episcopal church services were began in 1926 in the Indian homes around Round Lake. The present Log chapel was built in 1934 on the shore of the River on a plot of ground donated by Mrs. Washington. The funds were made available from a Memorial Fund set up by the Diocese in memory of Rev. Gifillian, an early missonary to the Chippewa, To locate Gilfillan Cemetery, take Hwy 46 to Squaw Lake, turn left on the first public road past the Co-op store. Road passes Gilfillan Church and the cemetery is in back of the church and to the right.
