The Sunrise Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation at Linwood, ON began services and formally organized in the early 1990s. The group originated as a daughter congregation of the Maple View Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
In 1997 there were 28 members; in 2000, 36; in 2003, 38. The group has been affiliated with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

The congregation moved about 2000 to a new building at 7892 Perth Road 121, just north of the hamlet of Hesson. (Minister Wayne Penner served in 2003 as an non-salaried congregational leader. The church also supports the Sunrise Christian School.
