The "Old Cemetery" ("Alter Friedhof") is located in the center of Korb im Remstal, Finkenweg. There are no funerals in the cemetery anymore. Old tombs will be dissolved in the near future after the expiry of the lay time.
The cemetery on a hillside has been completely redesigned in recent years and was "newly" inaugurated on September 22, 2018 having received a park-like structure.
There had been two WW I war graves in the cemetery, one of them in the area where you find the war graves from WW II nowadays. But both graves do not exist anymore.
At the edge in the upper slope area of the "Old Cemetery" there are still 5 of formerly 6 war graves of World War II. The sixth grave is dissolved. The dead soldier, Emil Daniel Theisinger, was transferred to his home town of Zweibrücken in 1948 and re-buried there.
Other war victims found their resting place in family graves, which are now also dissolved.
Please note that the graves in Germany are not perpetual. After a certain period of repose the graves are being leveled and re-used. There is no toxic embalming being done in Germany, so the coffin and the corpse have decomposed naturally. If the family of the deceased decides to purchase another period the duration can be extended - at the "Alte Friedhof" in Korb this is not possible any longer .
War Graves are considered memorials and are kept up by the owner of the cemetery. Those are kept forever.
