It is interesting to observe the unfolding of Providence in the rise and progress of the Church with regard to the instruments that are raised up for this purpose, men fitted, by nature and grace, for the special work they are called to discharge. Mr Schofield Robinson was then living in the neighbourhood, and upon him devolved the all-important work of conducting the School, assisted by ………
Mr Robinson was a man of commanding appearance, highly intelligent, grave and solemn in his manner, and a thorough Methodist of the old school. It is said that for some time he wore his hair long, in imitation of John Wesley; but no one ever had a greater abhorrence of merely outward adornment than he. Religion was so grave and serious that it might not have had a sunny side; but it served as a mighty check to the levity and indifference which prevailed some fifty years ago. He did a good work, and is still remembered with esteem and affection. He also drew largely upon his purse for its maintenance and support.
