The Chapel was built in 1836. It is the oldest structure in Marmet.
During the American Civil War (1861-1865) the chapel served as a hospital for Union soldiers and as military headquarters. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
Due to highway construction, most of the graves were relocated, many to Marmet Memorial Gardens.
Only three graves remain at the Chapel. One grave is unmarked but is inside the border surrounding the two Taylor graves.
