A 1992 North Carolina Cemetery Survey by Charles Bivens and John Burns has it listed as "McNeely".
A clue as to the College Hill name comes from The Monroe Journal, Dec. 3, 1948, pages 1 & 2, following a description of who is buried at this cemetery "on the home acres":
"When the graves were made they were on the edge of a field. Now the pines have grown up around them and they cannot be seen from the highway as formerly. A little further up the hill a large school house is falling into decay. It is also obscured by the pines. This was College Hill school where Ney [McNeely] went as a boy… "[end of reference to Monroe Journal]
A reference is also seen to College Hill in the October 1950 Bethlehem Methodist Church New Bulletin: Mr. and Mrs. Bob McNeely are buried "in the family plot in the College Hill cemetery near the old McNeely home in this community".
Resources for Mr. Bivens' N. C. Cemetery Surveys as well as the other sources cited are available at the Union County Public Library, Monroe, NC.
