"In 1827 the Society of People called Methodists established the "Wesleyan Chapel" on this site. It was later to become Zion Methodist Church and still later Zion United Church. It served this area until 1971 when the congregation joined with St. John's United Church, Middleton."
It is an inactive cemetery. The first burial occurred in 1830 and the last one took place 59 years later in 1889.
The first known survey of this cemetery was done by Dr. Allan E. Marble on August 28, 1972. Per his usual custom, he did not give the cemetery a name but, instead, assigned it an identifying number, in this case 107, and a location, Nictaux Falls. He transcribed 8 headstones, containing 13 inscriptions. His notation indicates that the stones were in good condition.
At a later date, Genweb volunteers transcribed Dr. Marble's survey notes and made them available online at Rootsweb. At that time, the volunteers named it "Zion United Church Cemetery " and cited the location as Nictaux Falls.
DIRECTIONS: This cemetery is located on the east side of Highway 10, directly across from Civic #8939.
