"Only one stone could be found in this neglected family cemetery, and it was found sunken about six inches underground. The cemetery is located on private property and has not been cared for in many years. Cattle have been pastured here for more than 30 years according to the present owners. There are also members of the Sinkhorn family buried here." This is the statement of Chris McHenry after she visited this site with her son-in-law in 1977. Later attempts to locate the burial site have been unsuccessful.
Attempts to find other references in the county and township with either family name of Gedney/Gidney or Sinkhorn were all very limited. Two references in the 1885 history of the county published by Weakley show two references. On page 571 there is a mention of a John Gidney that owned land near the village of Yorkville. On page 575 there is also a mention of a James Gidney that was a school teacher in the first log school house in the township of York. No dates for either of these two references, but the first reference does state that John Gidney purchases land from a member of the Davison family at a very early date in the history of the county. John Davison purchased land in Section 2, York Township in 1818.
