Add PhotosA transcription of this cemetery is found on FHL Film Number 833,492. Surnames include: BECHTEL, BEIGETEL, BRUMBAUGH, DELL, RAUGH, SHOWALTER, and SMITH.
From the FHL transcription it appears that the first burials were DELLs 1863.
The Smiths are decandants of George Jacob Schmidt and his wife Hanna from Frederick County, Maryland. Their son Adam Smith married Maria Catherine Biddle and Adam and Catherine had sons George (1810-1889) and Andrew (1801-1875).
The Smith Cemetery is not that far from the Sparr Cemetery that shows up on the USGS Williamsburg Quadrangle map. It is on the old DELL family farm, which is now owned by someone else. The cemetery is located in the middle of a horse pasture field and is in very bad shape. Most of the stone markers have been upset. The marker for George Smith 1810-1888, his wife Jane 1820-1915 and for Samuel Brumbaugh 11-20-1907 age 63 yrs, 6 months, 13 days are still standing. The cemetery is full of bushes and brier bushes, you need to wait until a frost to walk through it. You will also need to acquire personal permission from the present land owners.
Specific driving instructions: Starting at Martins general Store in Williamsburg, go east on east 1 St. Street to a dead end, turn left go about 2 miles on SR 2013, cross bridge, pass church on right, immediately turn right onto Lower Clover Creek Road TR 454, go abt 2 miles, pass VFW on left keep going, stay on Lower Clover Creek road, cross a bridge and cross another bridge when you see several mail boxes on the left...
