Andrews Gravesite
Carlisle, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
The graves were marked until the early 1900s when Hans Peter Christianson (who owned some of the land of the old farm) removed the gravestones so that his cows would not damage them. The stones were retrieved and reset in the 1950s by Mr. Christianson with the help of Donald Lapham and his father, Arthur T. Lapham. Oral tradition stated that Lucy Andrews was buried in the gold beads that she wore because no one wanted to touch them for fear of contracting the smallpox disease.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission refers to this cemetery in MACRIS as CAR.802 Andrews, Lucy - Andrews, Elizabeth Grave Sites.
