Add Photos"AN ACT for the removal of bodies and remains of bodies from a certain burial ground, connected with the Second Reformed church of Bethlehem, to the Bethlehem cemetery.
"Passed April 24, 1872.
"The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:
"SECTION 1. The consistory of the Second Reformed church of the town of Bethlehem, in the county of Albany, and their successors in office, are hereby authorized and empowered, with full and ample powers, to cause the bodies and remains of bodies interred in their burying-grounds, in rear of the said church, and now belonging to said church, to be taken up and removed to the Bethlehem cemetery, which is located about one-fourth of a mile from said church and burying-ground, and cause the said bodies and remains to be properly interred in such place in said cemetery as shall be provided by the said consistory of said church for the re-interment of said remains; provided, however, that the said consistory shall give at least three months' notice of their intention of removing the said bodies and remains from such burying-ground, connected with the said church, to the said Bethlehem cemetery, such notice to be given by causing the same to be read to the congregation on three Sabbaths, when the congregation assemble in the usual manner for public worship in said church, at least three months previous to the commencement of such removal of the bodies and remains interred in said burying-ground, provided, that such bodies or parts of bodies, shall be removed and reburied in families, and such stones or monuments as are now over the graves shall be removed and used on such graves in the cemetery above mentioned.
