Religious Sisters of Charity Cemetery
Also known as Irish Sisters of Charity Cemetery
Sutton, County Dublin, Ireland
Religious Sisters of Charity Cemetery is located on the Dublin Road in Bayside (at the rear of Kilbarrack Cemetery (walled off from the rest of the cemetery)) and is maintained by the Fingal County Council. It is reserved for the Religious Sisters of Charity (also known as the Irish Sisters of Charity).
Please note that the first and second names recorded are those noted on the headstone. These names are not their given birth names of the women, but their religious names. On entering religious life, a woman was given a new name, usually of a saint, and it is by this name she was known within the Order, and by which her death was recorded.
The main historic cemetery can be found at Kilbarrack Cemetery.
Modern-day Kilbarrack is within the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council, with part of its old lands now in Donaghmede, and part in Bayside under Fingal County Council jurisdiction. The cemetery is located on the Dublin Road in Bayside and is maintained by the Fingal County Council.
Visitors to Kilbarrack Cemetery are advised that the main gates are sometimes locked and the keys are available from Fingal County Council.
