Poplar Street runs along the left side of the photograph. Baymiller Street intersects with Poplar Street from the right along the bottom of the photograph. The buildings visible on the right side are on Livingston Street. The building on the left side of the photograph is Sands School (no longer in use as a school), which is on the corner of Poplar Street and Freeman Avenue. The fenced area was the school playground.

The cemetery was located in the area now occupied by the Sands School building and the playground.
