Roding Lane cemetery is situated on Roding Lane North on the borders of Woodford and Hainault. It was opened in 1940 to take the civilian war dead of the then Borough of Redbridge. All authorities at that time had to make space in each of the boroughs to accomodate both civilian and military deaths and as many of the local cemeteries were full it was considered that this space would be an ideal location without having to disturb existing burials in other places

The first burial took plsce in September 1940 and also includes 6 war graves from WW2.
