"New Series Prepared By Mrs W T VanDusen (DAR member)
Through the kindness of Mrs W T VanDusen of Fonda, county Historian, we are permitted to publish a series of cemetery inscriptions from several towns in Montgomery county. The painstaking efforts of the writer we are sure will be appreciated by our readers. The various cemeteries will be published in installments and may we suggest our readers get the scissors and paste because these names should be recorded as widely as possible."
Note At Bottom Of Article:
One stone overturned, not able to be read. Simms Frontiersmen of NY Vol 2, page 338 "Adam Fonda at the time of Johnson's invasion resided near the Cayadutta creek where Douw Fonda resided in 1850 (Mrs Elizabeth Hammond read a paper before the local DAR Chapter in which she states: 'Across the Johnstown Road from the Peggy Wemple Tavern stood another Fonda home built for Douw by his son, Douw Fonda. This house was moved down on Cayadutta street by the late Isaac A Rosa Sr and is the first after crossing the Johnstown road by way of Berryville')
