History of the Aeriel Baptist Church: The church was organized in 1882 under the leadership of the Rev. James T Rittenhouse. The Sunday School was organized in April 1898. After declining attendance, the church was closed to full-time ministry in1962. In 1975, a historian decided to write about the families who had loved ones buried in the cemetery and to raise money to clean up the road and cemetery. It took 4 years to accomplish. In May 1979, the first annual homecoming service was held.

April 2014: The church is no longer being used and was heavily vandalized when we visited. The cemetery is on a hill behind the church to the left. The road to the cemetery itself is no longer drivable.
