A church has been on this site from around 1200 but it was rebuilt in 1330 by Philip de Aylesbury, the lord of the manor of Milton Keynes, incorporating the chancel arch of the original church. A notable feature of the arch is its off-centre position from the nave. The detail in the masonry is also unusual in that such detail is normally found in much more important buildings.
