One half acre is deeded for cemetery purposes though the site reveals just one pile of large rocks near the location of the former 'homestead' on what has been the Reiker family farm for at least four generations. Reiker family members state that someone "from a wagon train" was buried here, but research indicates it is likely the burial place of Elisha Estes Jr. who homesteaded the farm. Genealogical information indicates one, possibly two, marriages for Estes and it is unknown if a wife or wives are buried here. A bill in Estes' probate file indicates that his grave was 'walled and covered' which may help explain the assorted large rocks haphazardly piled at the site. At some point after Estes' death, the farm was sold out of the family. Estes had three sons who moved to Newton County in western Missouri and a daughter, Nancy, who married Wilson Edward McEuen, a blacksmith at Anaconda. Nancy's burial place is unknown to this researcher but it's certainly possible that she, too, was buried here with her father / parents.
