Kinnear's Mills, Megantic County, Quebec
Take the Kinnear's Mills Road for about two miles and you will come to Craig Road. Craig Road divides, turn left and the road becomes Bedard Road. Mrs. Prevost lives in the last house on that road and the remains of this cemetery are high up on a hill on property that connects to hers.
Historical Kinnear's Mills, Quebec is approximately 100 miles north east of Sherbrooke, Quebec. To reach it take Route 112 out of Sherbrooke to Thetford Mines, and then Route 269 towards Quebec City.
Abandoned since 1913;
This cemetery is referred to now as the Old Catholic Cemetery on Bedard Road. It used to be known as the Cemetery of Five Counties. It is not known why or when the name changed. This is the area where the first settlers, English, Irish and Scottish, put down their roots and what many of their descendants fondly refer to as "down home." Now the cemetery has fallen into total disuse.
Only one headstone is visible.
The only deaths listed for this cemetery are those where the burial site has been verified after reviewing the church record. Other lists of burials on other sites are not accurate according to church records.
