On the North side of Farmview Road West of Hunt Line Road. The Ontario death registration recorded the cemetery as the Galetta Hunt Cemetery in 1835.
History of the Hunt Cemetery (from plaque on site)
John and Latia (Gillon) Hunt and family arrived in Canada June 1832 from County Leitrim, Ireland. They purchased Lot 16 Conc. 5, Fitzroy Twp. John Hunt Jr. died a few days later. His mother chose this knoll for his grave. Others buried here include: John's brother Robert Hunt and wife, Mary Gillon, December 1840, a few days after their arrival from Ireland; Alice Latecia Hunt Little, sister of John Hunt Sr.; the Burrs were friends and neighbours in Fitzroy; the Drew babies who died in 1836 are unknown.
Restoration was made possible in 1983 by the West Carleton Township Council and Junior Farmers. Donors: Burial Ground, Fred Hunt, 1867-1952; Gates and Cairn, Edna Hunt, in memory of her father John Lewis Hunt, 1862-1951; Maintenance Fund, John Burr, 1845-1935, Fred Hunt 1867-1952.
