This cemetery was destroyed decades ago and all surface evidence was removed. Through the auspices of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (Criminal Investigation Division) and the Douglas County Cemetery Preservation Commission, the eight graves were found and marked with standard archaeology flags on September 30, 2013 by an archaeologist and an officer of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department. Small granite markers were obtained, and on March 24, 2014, each grave was marked with a granite block that specifies whether the grave is that of an adult, a child, or an infant. The cemetery was originally thought to be that of an Adair family, but the graves of members of that family are at Union Grove Baptist Church with inscribed markers. Recent research indicates that it may very possibly be the burial place of the Wilkins family who lived on the property in the 1850 census and are as follows:
William (55), Maria (42), Lucretia (37), Nancy (15), William (11), John (5), Joseph (5), and Amanda (2). Mr. Wilkins still owns the property in 1857, but only one member of the family can be found anywhere in the 1860 census.

This small cemetery is on private property and requires permission to visit. Please contact the cemetery commission at 770-920-7593 to make arrangements.
