Kinlock Falls Cemetery
Mount Hope, Lawrence County, Alabama, USA
The survey and plat of this cemetery was done by Rayford & Mary Hyatt not both deceased. The Hyatts spent years searching for and surveying cemeteries in the Bankhead Forest. Before their deaths they donated a copy of their work to The Lawrence County Archives in Moulton, Alabama.
Their desire was to make sure these cemeteries were not forgotten and what information they had obtained from them and from descendants of the people buried there was on record for future generations. As the current Director of the Lawrence County Archives I know that Rayford and Mary would want me to make these surveys available on findagrave for others.
According to the Hyatts Survey the Kinlock Falls Cemetery is located in the Bankhead National Forest 1/4 miles South of Kinlock Falls and 70 yards West of Kinlock road in the SW 1/4 of the SE 1/4 Section 32 Township 8 Range 9.
A notation is made on the survey that "This cemetery has been abandoned a long time and is grown up in trees, bushes and vines and may have been damaged by logging machines. The number of graves is unknown. No inscriptions have been found on stones. Two old house places are nearby.
The plat was drawn by Rayford Hyatt.
