Add PhotosPrior to the organization of the Saron Lutheran Church in Saronville, Nebraska in 1884, some deceased members of the church were buried at their family homesteads. Four members of the Plumbly family were buried in the northwest corner of the Plumbly farm buildings. There are no grave markers.
The farm buildings are long gone and nothing remains to mark the graves. Approximate location of the farm and those graves can be loosely determined from the 1886 Plat Maps for Lewis Township, Clay County. That location is depicted in the cemetery photo.
The Plumbly Family Plot was documented in the records of the Saron Lutheran Church and appears on Page 36 of the directory of the Saron Lutheran Cemetery published in 1988.
Two adults and two infants were buried in the Plumbly Family Lot prior to 1884. The documentation identifies the adults as the parents of Charles (Plumbly) and the grandfather of the four children of Charles. The documentation identifies the infants as the sons of the two adults buried here. The unlikely and implausible as those adults would have been at least 70 years old when the infants were born. More likely, and there is some evidence that the two infants were children of Charles Plumbly and his wife Christina Louise (Nelson.)
