The mausoleum appears to be inside the ruins of what may have been a family church. The first Mahon, Nicholas, is buried here.

Nicholas Mahons were granted a royal deer park in 1649 and he is buried in this mausoleum. The last burial was in 1936 when a 13 year old daughter of Olive Hales Pakenham Mahon died after a riding accident.The side wall of the building is damaged.
