Cemetery is east of Dukes Lumber Rd. on the north side of the roadway. It is also a few miles west of the Epworth Cemetery on the same road. A contributor who has been there added these directions to find: Take Rt 13 north from Laurel 13 & 24. Make a right on Rt 9. Make a right on Duke's Lumber, and take it to the dead end where it runs into Sycamore. Make a left onto Sycamore. The cemetery is immediately on the left.
This church was organized May 31, 1781, by the Revs. Philip Hughes and Elijah Baker and was the third of the denomination in the State. Source: Scharf, Thomas J., History of Delaware, 1609-1888.Volume Two- pp. 1285-1292,Chapter LXXII.
The Revs. Hughes and Baker were instrumental in forming the Baptist Church at Gravelly Branch at about the same time, in Nanticoke Hundred.
Broad Creek Church was active for several years. It has also been referred to as Benson's Old Side Church and Broad Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Rev John Benson was the first minister.
Special thanks to Chuck Swift and the Field of Stones Project that led me to find Broad Creek Cemetery location, and Laura Stevens for her help also.
