Add PhotosThis Medieval cemetery in the city of Tübingen does no longer exist. It was located right next to the Ammer Creek. Some of the historic grave markers have been mmoved to the Stadtffriedhof. In 1836 the area had become a part of the old Botanical Gardens of Tübingen and is now part of a city park.
It was/is one of nearly 20 burial spots in the city:
Municipal Cemeteries:
► Stadtfriedhof Tübingen
► Bergfriedhof Tübingen
► Friedhof Bebenhausen
► Friedhof Bühl
► Friedhof Derendingen
► Friedhof Hagelloch
► Friedhof Hirschau
► Friedhof Kilchberg
► Friedhof Tübingen-Lustnau
► Alter Friedhof Pfrondorf
► Neuer Friedhof Pfrondorf
► Friedhof Tübingen-Weilheim
► Friedhof Unterjesingen
Congregational Cemeteries:
► Ammerkirchhof (defunct)
St. Jakobs Kirchhof (defunct)
Churches and Crypts:
► Stiftskirche zu St. Georg
► Kloster Bebenhausen
Please note that the graves in Germany are not perpetual. After a certain period of repose (20-30 years) the graves are being leveled and re-used. There is no toxic embalming being done in Germany, so the coffin and the corpse have decomposed naturally. If the family of the deceased decides to purchase another period the duration can be extended by another 30 years. War Graves are considered memorials and are maintained by the owner of the cemetery. Those are kept forever.
