Add Photos"Silver Ridge" was the home of Esaias (Esias) Easrle, son of Maj. Samuel Earle III. Maj. Samuel Earle III lived on the Shenandoah River about one mile from "Mount Zion" (in what is now Warren County). Esaias Earle was a Major in the 51st Regiment, Virginia Militia and is buried with other family members at the family cemetery at Silver Ridge. His wife was Sarah Bownley Earle and upon her death, Silver Ridge passed to their son, Col. John Bayliss Earle (patriot of the War of 1812). Upon his death in 1860, Silver Ridge passed to his daughter, the wife of Hiram P. Evans. The exact location of this family cemetery is not presently known. But the estate, Silver Ridge, was located near the community of White Post in Clake County. William C. Trenary owned at one time Silver Ridge and his heirs sold the Western part to F. W. Plumley (DB 29/307). In 1968 it was sold to Francis A. Schottroffe and his wife who renamed this section of Silver Ridge, Oak Ridge" because of the many mature oaks on the property.
