Halesboro Anglican Cemetery
Established in 1842 - Halesboro Anglican Cemetery is a small burial ground found north of the village of Portneuf, Quebec, Canada. It used to be surrounded by a small town that had a school and a sawmill back in the 1800s. The town was founded by Edmund Hale who encouraged Irish protestant immigrants to settle here. They lived by farming, but it was a poor existence and when the industrial boom happened later in the century in the United States many families moved there. Now there is little but forest surrounding the church yard. The church itself, which was declared an historic building, was burnt down by an arsonist in 2005.
