Three transcriptions of this cemetery has been documented, 1978, 1988 and 2012.
In June 1978, the cemetery was transcribed by Don & Mary Ethel Fulmer Whiteley. (Mary is a direct decendant of James & Rachel Merchant). At that time, 11 grave markers (Headstones) were located and copied. The cemetery was covered in briars. An old fence that once surrounded the cemetery had been torn down. Most of the grave stones had been pushed down, broken or cracked, apparently by cows that occupied the pasture.
In 1979, the family of Ethel Tallu Taylor Bowers (Daughter of Ada Merchant Taylor), cleaned up the cemetery and erected a chain-link fence around the cemetery. At that time, no additional headstones were found.
In 1988, the cemetery was transcribed by Phillip Brooks (husband of Geralyn Fulmer Brooks - a direct descendant of James & Rachel Merchant). At that time, only 10 of the 11 grave markers documented in 1978 remained. The transcription was done for the Saluda County Genealogical Society and was published in "Our Saluda County Ancestors" Vol 1, page 5
In June of 2012, Don & Mary Whiteley returned to the cemetery to photo document the headstones which remained. The cemetery was heavily overgrown with briars and long thorney vines which were at one time rose bushes. Only 7 of the original 11 headstones documented in 1978 remained. The south side of the chain-link fence erected in 1979 was damaged - possibly due to a fallen limb or tree. The condition of the cemetery is very poor.
