Described in "Old Gravestones of Ulster County", 1931, Dr J Wilson Poucher and Byron J Terwilliger; " One-quarter mile south of Bloomington is the Snyder-Van Wagenen ground with one unmarked stone remaining. Several rods away are two smoll stones said to be slaves. Copied May 29, 1931, by Dr J Wilson Poucher and Byron J Terwilliger." They copies 2 graves. In 1960, the area was totally overgrown by mature hardwood trees. Fifteen or so graves were seen bearing dates in the 1600's and early 1700's. Van Winkel was one names I remember seeing. Fifteen to 20 yards east of the main cluster, there was one or two carved stones on the south-east edge of the flat plataeu, over looking a large, old Victorian house on the hillside, near Creek Locks Rd. By 1982, most stones were down and covered by moss and fallen leaves. The Graveyard is on the "Sand Hill" plateau east of Main St, Bloomington, and North of Creek Locks Rd. The Ulster County Historical Society may have an older, much more extensive listing of this burial ground.
