St Chad's Church in Huapai administers the cemetery on behalf of the Auckland Anglican Diocese. The sexton duties are carried out by Silverdale Landscape Services.
The cemetery is relatively flat with a gentle incline. However, there is a sharp drop off in the old burial block on the northern boundary. The cemetery is divided by a stream into two blocks. The older block is straight through the cemetery gates. The newer block is on the right of the gates and named the Lawn Cemetery block.
The old block burials include early settler families and their descendants along with old area identities. There are 21 unmarked graves where Police buried gum diggers in 1920 as a result of the influenza pandemic. Due to the proximity of the Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Whenuapai, there are several military graves including one Commonwealth War Grave - William Newton Ford (d.1 March 1944).
The earliest death date is John Bowes, gum digger, June 1882 with the unmarked plot located in the old block. He was a former Sergeant with the 50th Regiment of Foot where he served for 21 years until 1869. He served in the Crimea, Ceylon, NZ Wars (Waikato and Taranaki campaigns) and Australia.
The cemetery was still accepting burials in December 2021.
