In February 1925, the Champaign Democrat newspaper reported that the Greenville Gravel Company had unearthed skeletons for several children and adults when removing surface soil for a new gravel excavation on the farm of John H. Muzzy. Mr. Muzzy indicated that the cemetery was the Elijah Powell Cemetery, whose location was unknown until discovery of the bones. The skeletons were reinterred in the Oak Dale Cemetery.
