Capt. Daniel R. WHITLEY (b.1802, NC) married Sarah WOOTEN (b.1810, NC) on 12-26-1825 in Johnston Co, NC. They moved to Henry Co, TN about 1830 for a short time, then moved to Tipton Co, TN. They built the Red Bud Plantation (9,000 acres) in the early 1830s in the area north of Mason to the Hatchie Bottoms, including the location of the present town of Charleston. Sarah died in 1850 after the birth of their 10th child. Daniel married Sarah Jane JETT in 1852, then Daniel died in 1856. Raiford WHITLEY, a brother of Daniel, also lived in Tipton Co, TN during this period.
