The cemetery has been abandoned for many years and in about 1946 was said to have had about 26 stones. Only the following stones were found in the thick lilac undergrowth. Copied 13 July by Gary Richter and Arthur Louis Fennell, CGRS." From their notes for the Minnesota Genealogical Society.
"Originally connected with a Swedish Lutheran Church that disbanded in the early 1900s [Organized in 1897 and dissolved in 1918]. On private property. Stones removed and piled in a plum thicket nearby." from the Minnesota Genealogical Society cemetery listings.
The last sentence above is inaccurate. There has been an extensive growth of lilac bushes where the cemetery was. Bases for headstones and pillars can be seen in the lilac thicket but the tops are nowhere to be seen. There is no stack of headstones nearby. According to the landowner the cemetery was already in a neglected and overgrown state when his father bought the land in 1948. Relatives of those interred had the option of leaving them there or paying to have them moved to another burial ground. None wanted to invest the $600. There has also been extensive vandalism. Sometimes the area was used in hazing consisting of tying local teens to headstones and leaving them overnight. Probably no amount of effort could restore this graveyard.
