Berry Hensley aka Metcalf Cemetery

From the junction of Horton and Indian Creek, bear right and go about .9 mile up Horton Creek to a garage on the left side of the road. Turn up by the garage and follow the left prong to the top of the hill...it looks like it will dead end at a house but it doesn't.

There are some graves marked with field stones. According to Ossie Penland one of these graves is the infant child of Crystal Presnell and the granddaughter of Carolyn Penland. Another unmarked grave contains the amputated leg of Grovie Hensley Metcalf. Grovie later died in childbirth and the infant is buried in an unmarked grave. Berry Hensley does not have a marked stone and he was buried here over 100 yrs ago and his wife is also buried here. An infant child of Grovie & Dewey Metcalf and an unidentified child of Clyde Metcalf also rests here. This information was provided by Ossie Penland.
