Add Photos"This family cemetery was located southeast of the intersection of Military and West Parade Roads within Fort Pickett's cantonment area in what was Tract G-87 owned by
Cora J. Mayton et al. in 1944 (see Table 1 and Figure 1). It is marked as "relocated" on the 1944 map and included on Godburn's list of cemeteries relocated to Butterwood
Church where 18 individuals are listed: Thomas Reames, Eliza James, John Reames, Willie Reames, David Sydnor Daniel, Eannie Sydnor Daniel, Sterling Mayton, Rosh Mayton, Bernard Mayton, Herman Ragsdale, Daniel Infant, 2 Mayton Infants, Mr. Picery, Margaret Picery, Lizzie Davis, Mrs. Harper Manley and 1 Unknown individual (Godburn 1977: G-2). The disturbance from the construction of Camp Pickett in this area was considerable and it is very likely that all traces of this cemetery have been completely erased. The location of this cemetery had not been verified at the time of this survey."
