Cemetery is on private property, about 100 yards off the east side of Puckett Rd in a grove of trees within a fenced pasture, on the land which Elzey left to his daughter, Indiana, which subsequently became the Charlie Hoyle place.
In his will, dated 8 Sept 1897, Elzey W. Hicks specified the cemetery:
"I give and devise to my beloved and always faithful and affectionate daughter Indianah F. Hicks my home tract of land upon which I now reside, in fee simple, and which contains 101 acres of land by a survey made of all my lands of this date, which survey is attached to this will for the purpose of instructing my executors and showing clearly to them and every other person, the devises herein made by me. The devise of my home tract is made with this reservation and so understood by Indianah F. Hicks that 1/4 of an acres of land, including the rock wall around the grave yard is to be perpetually reserved as a burying ground for the use of my family, the land to be added to burying ground already used as such, shall be taken from the land south of this wall."
Note: There are only two inscribed monuments remaining within the cemetery - one inside the wall to Elzey and his wife, Elisabeth, and one just south of the wall to their daughter, Lucy Lawrence and her husband Archer Clark Hoyle. There are many fieldstone markers without inscriptions. It is not known whether there once were other inscribed markers. For many years, vines and undergrowth rendered the cemetery impenetrable. When visited in 2011, the growth had been cleared and the monuments, though toppled, and many fieldstone markers, once again visible. It is quite possible that Elisabeth Duke Hicks' parents, Green B. and Rebecca Duke, may be buried here.
