Hubert-Barton Cemetery

In 1869, Oliver and Ellen Barton acquired 100 acres of land high above the Yegua Creek near Somerville from CJ Hill. The land had been part of the IK Hawkins original grant in Washington County. Oliver and Ellen raised their family on this property, and later set aside a small portion of land overlooking the creek bottom as their final resting place. The family cemetery continues to be owned by descendants of Oliver Barton.
