Photos

From Fly, take Leipers Creek Road toward Water Valley for about 1-1/2 miles. Just after crossing Oakley Hill Br., enter lane on right of road. Follow this for about 1/2 mile. The cemetery is located in a dense thicket and would be almost impossible to find without a guide.

Fred Hawkins notes in Maury County Cemeteries:

This may be the Alderson Cemetery listed in They Passed This Way on page B-12

Mr. Vester Humphrey, who accompanied the lister, said that this graveyard was on property formerly owned by his family. They bought it from the Ladds who had acquired it from the Gardners. Many years ago, he talked to two men who admitted breaking into the graves in search of gold or other valuables. They said that they found some cuff-links and gold teeth. Mr. Humphrey believes that the graves are those of members of the Gardner family. Listed by F.L.H. on 27 Sep 1896.
