The cemetery was reserved by a deed, 6 Sept 1900, between Clinton H. Sprinkle and Amanda H. Sprinkle, his wife, as described in Opequon District Berkeley County, WV, "that certain lot or parcel of ground containing about one-half acre, which is used for the purpose of a private graveyard on the premises now owned and occupied by the said parties of the first part and which is located on what is known as the 'Mill Lot' lying between the mill and barn which is on the same premises and includes a space of ten feet wide around the entire lot now enclosed by a stone fence. Said real estate being incorporation of the real estate which was conveyed to the said Clinton H. Sprinkle by deed from A. M. Sprinkle and others bearing the date of 23rd day of Sept. 1873, which is of record in the Office of the Clerk of County Court of said Berkeley in Deed Book 70, pgs 172-173 to which reference is hereby made."
"In Trust nevertheless and for the uses and purposes following and none other to wit that the said lot of parcel of ground shall be held by the said trustees and his heirs forever for the purpose of a private burial ground for the use of any member of the families of the partied hereto or any other person or persons that said trustees shall feel fit to grant the privilege of using same for said prupose without compensation, etc., signed C. H. Sprinkle and Amanda H. Sprinkle."
