Shaker Cemetery

Mercer County, Kentucky, USA
Memorials 187 added (4% photographed)

This cemetery is located on 3000 acres of land that was once the Shaker village of Pleasant Hill and is now the country’s largest private collection of original 19th century buildings and the largest National Historic Landmark in Kentucky. Most members of the Shaker society were buried with a simple wooden slab giving only their initials. Confederate soldier William Outlaw is believed to be the only non-Shaker buried in the village cemetery. He died of injuries shortly after the nearby Battle of Perryville, on October 8, 1862.
