Covenanter Cemetery is the oldest known burial grounds in Jackson Township. It is located on Kirk Road, four miles southwest of the center of North Jackson. It sits high on a hill and is surrounded by Meander Creek Preserve. In the olden days this spot was known as "God's Acre" of the Covenanter Church This former farm land was donated by John Ewing, Robert Kirkpatrick and William Young. It was under the care of the Covenanter Church until the Church disbanded and it was turned over to Jackson Township. The first burial was for Mary Orr in 1805.
