There are four burial grounds around the Old Gaelic Chapel in Cromarty, all approached via The Paye, a narrow lane going off the A832 on the outskirts of Cromarty.

Immediately around the ruin of the Old Chapel is the Cromarty Old Gaelic Churchyard. A low stone wall on the west side separates it from Cromarty Wester Burial Ground. To the west of this again is the Cromarty New Wester Burial Ground.

Abutting the east side of the Old Gaelic Churchyard is the Easter Burial Ground - or Military Section (not to be confused with Cromarty East Churchyard around the Old Parish Church on Church Street). A large proportion of the burials in this section are war graves.

Just to the east of the Military Section is the tall monument to Hugh Miller, geologist and paleontologist, who was born in Cromarty in 1802.
