Access to this cemetery is an adventure! You must enter the driveway toward the hog confinement. Travel on the north side of the building. We had phoned ahead ( August 2013) to the operator of the farm and he provided a mowed path through the soybeans to the entrance.

This is the home of Elisha Tadlock, son of Alexander and Mary 'Polly' Bullington Tadlock. Elisha is the person who owned the land when the Albany Cemetery was created (also known as the Old Tadlock Cemetery). The road that leads to the cemetery is to the left of the house.

The Albany Cemetery is very remote. It is in the N.E. part of Sect. 1, T-70N, R-16W. was associated with the ghost town of Albany, which disappeared many years ago. The cemetery is on the west side of Highway T-16, about 1/4 mile south of the 4 county corner, where Monroe, Wapello, Davis and Appanoose join.

Elisha Tadlock (b. 1830) owned the quarter of land in the N.E. corner of the section where the cemetery is located. Access is obtained by going west on a driveway past Elisha's old abandoned farmhouse and barn (barn is no longer there) for about 1/2 mile through a narrow farm lane then curving back to the south and again back to the east. The size of the cemetery is about 1/2 acre with about 50 graves. It was organized in 1850.
