The members of the Regular Baptist Church, after the split over the question of slavery in the 1830's, with other members of the same church, organized a new Baptist Church called The East Fork of Brushcreek Baptist Church.
On October 13, 1852 in Deed Book 19, page 335, Highland County Deed Records, William Newkirk and Rebecca, his wife, conveyed one half acre to "James Dalrymple and Thomas Storer, trustees of the Old Regular Baptist Church known by the name of The East Fork of Brushcreek of Highland County." A church was built here in front of the cemetery in 1853, but has long disappeared. Across the road, west from this cemetery and church, stood a school house and a Christian Church.
The News Herald dated Apr. 29, 1887 referred to this church as Mt. Zion.
The cemetery is on the southeast corner of the intersection of Springer Road (Township Road 187A) and Siders Road (Township Road 188A).
The cemetery is located in Jackson Township, Highland County, Ohio, and is # 5123 in "Ohio Cemeteries 1803-2003", compiled by the Ohio Genealogical Society.
