I share a common ancestor with John's wife.Research to date suggests that John and Helen were a childless couple and that their time together ended around 1942, after 15 years of marriage.John remained in NYC until at least 1959.It took considerable time and effort to link the NYC engineer John A Underwood, to his birth family and then to link him back to the Family plot at Rockwall Memorial Cemetery.A little more digging revealed John's grandfather fought in and survived the American Civil War, the very first Civll War veteran in my extended Family tree and on Find A Grave.So I decided to build a John A Underwood Virtual Cemetery - in part as a tribute to a man who in matters of love was perhaps a little short changed by life and also to document a Family that endured and survived the bloodiest war in the history of American warfare.
