We work on the postings and biographical information together, making one large family tree. *About our family*
My father-in-law, Donald Edward PARK, inspired us to discover our family history. He was our guide to the past, from exploring time-worn cemeteries to examining dusty documents for even the tiniest hints. Three generations of our family are involved in this hunt... and we have introduced each new in-law to the enhanced appreciation that comes with experiencing history through graving. In addition to researching our own family, we are working to create memorials for those who directly served in wartime with members of our family... including many young men who never came home. Hopefully, their legacy of service can live on through these efforts. We have also documented two previously forgotten cemeteries for former slaves and their descendants (Burris Cemetery and Saint Josephs Cemetery, both listed among our favorite cemeteries). We plan to continue in these efforts.

We invite you to read about a few of our relatives who served during World War II: Col. Dennis F. BLALOCK (survived Rapido River, helped liberate a concentration camp - received Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), BM1 Thomas W. STANBOROUGH (survivor of the U.S.S. Arizona, later died in the Solomon Sea), Captain/Master Thomas STANBOROUGH (naturalized U.S. citizen from Australia, Ship's Master with the U.S. Merchant Marine, sunk by German submarine U-158 in the Gulf of Mexico), Lt. Col. Zachariah T. STANBOROUGH (bomber pilot with the Army Air Corps), Thelma Stanborough BLALOCK (airfield support with the Army Air Corps), PFC Henry H. ALLEN Jr. (tank instructor and marksman with the Army), and Lt. Col. Bernice Vivian TAYLOR (a nurse with the Army, serving in the trenches on the road to Burma, who was the real life inspiration for Milton Caniff's character "Taffy Tucker").

To visit the graves of more World War II veterans, we invite you to view the virtual cemeteries found on this page for the following groups: Fox Corps 141st Infantry 36th Division (soldiers who assisted in liberating a subcamp of Dachau), U.S.S. Arizona Gold Star Survivors (those men who survived the sinking of the Arizona but died later during the war), 95th Bomb Group, U.S. Army Air Corps (some of the men flying out of England over Germany with Command Pilot Zach Stanborough), and the Crew of the S.S. Hermis (a merchant marine ship that was torpedoed by U-boat 158 in the Gulf of Mexico on 6 June 1942). All of these men served with one of our family members.
