Find a Grave ID

Bio

Discovered Find A Grave by going to a weekly 1 hr. Genealogy session sponsored by some ladies of the DAR @ my library. I was trying to find out about my paternal Great grandmother (who I remember as a kid). The DAR lady went online & started listing ancestors. She got to one and said "Congratulations, he was in the Revolutionary War". I was shocked to learn this and asked her where she was getting this info. She showed me FAG, and later I started going through my relatives and linking together my missing family members. I have learned a great deal about my ancestry and hopefully helped others discover theirs.

* If I recommend an edit, do not tansfer the memorial to me! If you do not want to maintain it, tranfer it to FAG (#8).
**Please when adding photos of grave markers add the Inscription on the marker to include everything on it. Nature will take over one day and at least there is documentation of what you saw on the marker.
*** I'm not a big fan of posting Death Certificates. With the exception of no grave marker photo on the memorial (just to verify the gravesite location). If you DO post a DCert, mark it as "OTHER" so that it is not the primary photo. Once a grave marker photo is added, remove the DC.
****I REALLY enjoy when memorials have Bio information (including Obits) about the person. The field is there for a reason and many members don't use it. It is interesting to find out a little bit about the person and what kind of work they did (and also helps verify other family members.)
